Hello. I’m Eric Drumm, a landscape and travel photographer, based in beautiful Horseshoe Valley in Central Ontario, Canada about 125 km north of Toronto, passionate about photographing the world, from near and far. I view myself being more of a generalist with a focus on landscapes, architecture and urban photography.  However I have always been interested in the beauty of gardens, flowers and forest.  On an opportunistic basis, I will be drawn to making images of birds and animals.  More often than not, it is simply the beautiful or the fascinating that catches my eye, ending up as a photograph!

You will see images in my portfolio from a number of countries where I have had the good fortunate to visit including travels across Canada and the USA, Europe as well as the UK and Ireland, one of my favourite places to make images.  There are galleries from the Asia-Pacific region as well as the Caribbean.  However there are many images made closer to home, where the beauty of Central Ontario where I live and the near-by Cottage Country landscape present many wonderful photographic opportunities.

Mentors

My photography path has been greatly influenced by a number of outstanding teachers of photography including Rick Sammon, Rob Stimpson, as well as two legends of UK photography, Charlie Waite and Joe Cornish.  These photographers all share a common passion for teaching the art of photography.  Thanks to each of them for inspiring me to try new things and to continue to develop my own skills.

Professional Development

One of the best avenues for your own development is to join a local camera club and to be an active member.  After deciding to join the local Barrie Photo Club, I was privileged to serve on the executive of this 135 member strong club for five years, including two years as the President.  

Presentations

I have also had the privilege to deliver learning presentations on a number of occasions at the Barrie Photo Club, the Newmarket Country Images Club and the Midland District Camera Club sharing my love of landscape and travel photography.  As well I conducted a four night course on Lightroom Basics for the Barrie Club's members.  If your club is interested in having me as a speaker, please reach out via the "Contact Me" button above.

Publications

My work has been licensed to a number of Canadian magazines including the cover of the  2019 summer edition of Dockside Magazine and the British Columbia Ferries on-board passengers' magazine. As well I have been an editor for several books and magazines published by the World Best Top Photographer Association, an international group of outstanding photographers. Exhibitions

My work has been displayed in several exhibitions including the yearly Barrie Photo Club’s show in the Rotunda of the Barrie City Hall.  An exhibition of a number of images from the back alleys of Toronto was on display and for sale at the “At the Five” restaurant in Barrie, Ontario.  Several years ago my work was shown at two exhibitions of artists from the World Best Top Photographer Association in the Stadtsmuseum Harderwijk, Netherlands.  More recently, I have participated in three different photography exhibitions in Moscow, at the invitation of colleagues from  the World Best Top Photographer Association.

Digital Art

Shooting in RAW format, gives one increased opportunity to bring one's own creative vision to the final image.  Some of my favourie post-processing tools include Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, Topaz Labs' suite of products, DXO's NIK Collection and Skylum Luminar. 

From time to time, I like to explore more creative effects with Topaz Labs' Impression, a digital image processor which  converts photographs into something that resembles a painting or drawn art.  You may view some examples of these types of images and some other abstract art at Digital Art.
